Gas Oven Igniter Wont Glow

Replaced the ignitor but it still does not work.

Gas oven igniter wont glow. My kenmore stove broiler works the top jets work but oven dose not work. As the igniter draws electric current it will heat to a high temperature and glow as well as cause the bi metal in the oven safety valve to warp and open the valve releasing the gas to be ignited. I ordered a new glow igniter installed it same thing still happening. The hot surface igniter is used in modern gas oven burners to open the gas valve and to ignite the gas. The stove part works fine just the oven won t release gas. The igniter gets so bright and hot the oven actually be hot inside too but the gas never releases. They need to draw at least 3 2 amps or else they won t open the gas valve correctly and it will either crack the valve open or open and shut the valve several times when it should just be holding open.

On a newer gas oven the burners release and set fire to the gas via an igniter called the hot surface igniter. This sequence normally takes about a minute. I replaced the ignitor twice thinking the first one was defected but even after getting the second replacement still no oven could it be the gas safety valve even though the gas line for the broiler and oven come from same valve or could it be the control board that is bad but i dont believe its. If you want to take a chance and replace a part without testing replace the ignitor. Ignitors fail much more often than gas valves do.

The ignitor wil not glow for the oven part but the broiler ignitor works fine. The oven did not get used for at least 4 years before we moved in so not sure if that can result in any affects. This is an in wall gas oven. Turning on the oven sends electricity to the igniter causing it to heat red hot.
