Gas Oven Igniter Keeps Burning Out

Gas oven igniter keeps burning out. I m not sure if this issue is with the upper oven or the lower oven but. When your gas oven won t light. We expected the igniter to last more than 6 months. One other noise to look out for is excessive clicking.
It fills with gas but won t ignite. The broiler continues to operate normally. The in oven broiler and burners light just fine and i could get the oven to heat by. One of several issues might hinder the lighting or heating up of a gas oven.
Monday september 27 2010 10 12 40 pm utc rank. I was wondering if there could be something wrong causing the igniter to go out. They work fine for the first load then no more heat. Like gas burners on your stove the oven igniter may click when it is trying to ignite the gas.
Hi this can be a result of improper voltage being fed to the ignitor or if when you install a new ignitor you touch the black part. The first time i didn t know it was the igniter right away it would glow but it wouldn t start the gas. After about 45 60 seconds the glow got brighter and brighter and turned from orange to white then there was a popping sound and the oven turned off the gas flow. Its an old house with an old oven but that seems a bit excessive doesn t it.
Of course this failure started sudenly and shortly after the warranty expired. I keep burnig out ignitors. I replaced it and foolishly put the oven back together. However if it keeps clicking this means the igniter isn t lighting the gas but it is still trying.
It can also happen if the furnace gets it s combustion air from an area where chemicals are stored such as a laundry room. If too much gas flows into the igniter for some reason the igniter will overheat and over time the igniter will burn out do to getting too hot. Get shopping advice from experts friends and the community. I just burnt out my oven s glow igniter for the 3rd time.
Power must continually flow through the ignitor and oven gas valve for gas to be released into the oven burner to create a flame. Ignitor bar appears normal. The pilot flame may fail to ignite the oven burner if it s poorly adjusted or if the tubes running from the pilot flame to the burners are blocked. Once the oven ignitor draws a specific amount of current the oven valve opens to allow gas to flow to the oven burner where the glowing hot ignitor glow bar ignites it.
It sounds like it may not have been manufactured properly for whatever reason. It is best not to let an oven linger when it is clicking and not lighting as this means gas. Less than 1 year. Oils on your fingers can create a hot spot.
