Gas Oven Igniter Comes On But No Flame

The stove part works fine just the oven won t release gas.

Gas oven igniter comes on but no flame. Auto clean works answered by a verified appliance technician. If the igniter is weak replace it. If the igniter glows for more than 90 seconds without igniting the gas flame this indicates that the igniter is too weak to open the valve. The oven did not get used for at least 4 years before we moved in so not sure if that can result in any affects.

Regarding the flame sensor i have 120 volts at both when probing each side one probe on a lead. To determine if the igniter is defective observe the igniter when the oven is on. The ignitor is a very fragile thing whether it s the round or the flat type. All that is happening now is the igniter glows and there is either no gas is getting through the orifice because it is stopped up or the valve is not allowing the gas to the orifice in the first place.

I ve check continuity on all the thermostats and flame sensor all show i have continuity. Replaced the coils with a brand new kit and still no flame. As the igniter draws electric current it will heat to a high temperature and glow as well as cause the bi metal in the oven safety valve to warp and open the valve releasing the gas to be ignited. I have gas to my gas house heater and gas hot water heater and i really can t believe my gas line to my clothes dryer is clogged a shut off valve to my dryer is in the same.

It works like a chain reaction. On a newer gas oven the burners release and set fire to the gas via an igniter called the hot surface igniter. Ignitor glows orange but no flame gas comes out. The hot surface igniter is used in modern gas oven burners to open the gas valve and to ignite the gas.

Turning on the oven sends electricity to the igniter causing it to heat red hot. What i ve done so far. If the igniter does not glow at all use a multimeter to test the igniter for continuity. After about 30 seconds the ignitor cools down then after about 30 seconds the igniter glows orange again but again never any gas released or blue flame or heat.

I ordered a new glow igniter installed it same thing still happening. Your oven will not ignite. This sequence normally takes about a minute.
